PCC Museum After Hours
Parodi costume institute host After-Hours Evenings at In Praise of Ma: Emptiness and the Space Within
The Parodi Costume Institute is pleased to announce that, alongside the extension of In Praise of Ma: Emptiness and the Space Within through June 12th, we will now be hosting a series of special after-hours exhibition evenings every Thursday until the closing week of the exhibition.
These extended nights were conceived as an opportunity to experience the exhibition in a different atmosphere—one shaped by slower pacing, conversation, music, and community. As the sun sets, visitors will be invited to move through the immersive installations of In Praise of Ma while engaging with the work of Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake, and Yohji Yamamoto in a setting that encourages contemplation and exchange.
Grounded in the Japanese aesthetic principles of Ma (間), Hi (秘), So (素), and Ha (破), the exhibition explores space, ambiguity, materiality, and transformation through garments presented as sculptural and environmental forms. Experiencing these installations during the evening hours offers a new perspective on the relationship between object, shadow, sound, and atmosphere.
Each Thursday evening will feature rotating DJ sets with specially curated music selections intended to complement the exhibition environment and activate the patio space as a social gathering point within the city. Throughout the evening, visitors will also encounter outdoor projections of archival runway presentations and fashion shows by Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake, and Yohji Yamamoto, extending the exhibition experience beyond the gallery walls.
Selections of reference books and research materials used throughout the curatorial development of the exhibition will be available for visitors to browse, offering deeper insight into the conceptual and historical framework behind In Praise of Ma. In addition, a rotating display of Polaroids and analog film photography documenting the exhibition and its visitors will be presented throughout the space, with select prints available for guests to take home. Limited exhibition merchandise will also be available during these evenings.
Rotating food and drink vendors will pop up throughout the terrace each evening, helping create a warm and familiar environment where visitors can gather, converse, and engage with the exhibition experience beyond the gallery space.
The patio space will remain open and free to the public throughout the evening, while tickets will be required for access to the exhibition galleries. Exhibition tours and entry slots will run every 30 minutes from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Due to the intimate nature of the exhibition, capacity remains limited.
Visitors are encouraged to reserve in advance through our online booking platform, though a limited number of walk-in tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
